Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) - an outstanding astronomer, creator of the heliocentric theory. The author of the work De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the revolutions of the heavenly spheres), which led to the scientific revolution known as The Copernican Revolution.
